Visa Documents
When applying for a Portugal visa you will have to provide some mandatory documents as a part of Schengen visa application procedure.
The Schengen countries have established a list of necessary documents for each reason of entry into this nation and these criteria’s are roughly the same for a stay in each of these member states. The following is the list of Portugal visa required documents for a successful Portugal visa application:
1. Portugal visa application form, filled completely and signed.
2. Two recent photographs, taken within the 3 months according to the following Schengen visa photo requirements:
- Two similar photos not more than 6 months old.
- 35x45mm size
- It must be a colour photograph with a light background.
- The applicant must look straight in the camera with closed mouth, neutral facial expressions.

3. A valid passport with the following requirements:
- Issued within the last ten years.
- Must have 2 full blank pages for visa stamp.
- It should be valid for at least 3 months after you come back to the UK from Portugal.

7. Financial proof which states that you will be able to sustain yourself financially throughout your stay in Portugal. You have to submit one of the following documents:

- Letter of sponsorship from a third party stating that they will be paying for your trip to Portugal. This letter must be submitted along with your sponsor’s bank statement which should not be older than 3 months in order to be considered valid.
- A combination of both of the above mentioned documents.
Documents Requirements Based on Employment Status
According to your employment status following Portugal Visa Requirements are mandatory to submit:
1. For Employees
- Employment Agreement
- Latest six-month bank statement
- Approval from employers for leaves
- Income tax return file
2. For Self-Employed
- Your business license
- Bank statement of business of latest six months
- Income tax return of business
3. For Retirees
- Last six months pension statement
Documents Requirements for Minors
Minors’ parents or legal guardians are required to provide the following additional Portugal visa required documents when applying for a visa:
- Birth Certificate
- Visa application form signed by both parents
- If just one parent has sole custody of the child, a family court order may be necessary.
- Certified copies of both parents’ Passport/ID.
- If the minor will be travelling alone, a notarized parental consent form signed by both parents and guardians is required.
